Every year Liverpool holds the River of Light Festival, and in 2021 the event took place twice, once at the start and then at the end of the year as they could not have the event in 2020 due to the pandemic. The event in October 2022 took place when the World Gymnastics took place in Liverpool at the M&S Bank Arena. The River of Light Festival installations related to the event happening in the arena and there were many visitors already in Liverpool coming for the gymnastics which created a great activity for those visiting.
The River of Light Festival is always an incredible event that attracts people over the country to come and visit Liverpool. The trail is around the city for you to follow around to see each installation and every year there are new and different installations. The installations mostly take place on Liverpool's waterfront, the Albert Dock, Liverpool one and near the Liverpool Town Hall.
Reflecting on the years I have attended The River of Light Festival I think my favourite installations have been the moon, that is captured with the Liver Buildings in the background from 2021, the piano where the boxes light up to the keys played from November 2021 and the bubbles from the most recent event in 2022, which was located near the Town Hall. I am looking forward to visiting this years event, but in the meantime in this post I have shared the photographs from the first River of Light Festival I visited in 2019 until the last one I attended in 2022.
