Little Amal visits Liverpool 2022

Writer: Danielle Powell Danielle Powell

During summer 2022, Little Amal who is is a 3.5 metre puppet of a 10-year old Syrian girl refugee, visited liverpool for the day. Amal has become an international symbol of human rights and has become to represent millions of refugee children. It takes four puppeteers to bring Little Amal to life: one on each arm, one supporting her back and one inside walking on stilts. She has visited many cities over the world since July 2021 and on the 21st June 2022, Little Amal visited Liverpool for the day.

Amal took part in many activities while she visited Liverpool, such as helping digging in the area next to Tate Liverpool art gallery, before she carried on her walk round the Albert Dock.

While seeing the history of Liverpool Amal walked from the Albert Dock to the Museum of Liverpool where she was greeted by Asylum Link, a local choir supporting asylum seekers and refugees in the city. They performed for Amal on the Museum of Liverpool’s steps and Amal had a dance with the choir and the audience before she carried on her journey.

Many people came to join Amal on her walk and some even gave her gifts, for instance a bunch of flowers that is shown on the image below.

About Us

An overview of my work

I am a seascape artist from the U.K., creating acrylic paintings inspired by the ocean on canvas. I love the calmness of listening to the sea which reflects within my paintings. I capture the movements of the sea by taking photographs on beach walks and use the photos as reference. My work is on different scales, and I create hand painted products of my artwork on multiple items to sell on Etsy, Agift4theseasons.
