Exhibitions 2018-2021

2018

In 2018 I had my first ever exhibition around the time I started started painting. This was at Old Christ church in August 2018. When looking back at these paintings my painting style has changed a lot and they do not look the best, but it shows the journey of my art. My theme of paintings has however stayed the same over the years.

2019 college exhibition

At the end of my first year of college we had a final major project where we had to work on our own theme for a few months. I decided to do my theme about the beauty and not so beauty side of nature. For my final piece I created something completely different from what I normally do. Most of my paintings are very clear about what it is of but this one was the opposite.

The artwork is a powerful piece showing the ocean fighting back to us. In between the artwork there are images I took of litter that has been left on the beach and I used tissue and paint to create texture of the water splashing at the viewer. The artwork is not something I would normally create but in college I liked to make different art to what I did at home to try different techniques and materials.

At the end of the year, we had an exhibition in the Albert Dock showcasing the work we made for our final piece which was shown for 2 days, and the public could come and see. We spent the day setting it up before we opened.

2019

In summer 2019 I was apart of another exhibition at Old Christ Church. Since the last exhibition at this location, I have found more of my style but not fully. There is one piece that is still one of my favourite artworks, that I still use in other exhibitions and is also my largest piece of art. Two of the pieces from the exhibition I’m still happy about the outcome but I know where to improve with the others.

I displayed four canvas artworks in the exhibition, which was on different scales. For the wave splashed canvas painting I used acrylic paint mixed with tissue to try and create texture and show the splash of the wave, so it feels like it is coming out of the canvas.

2020 college exhibition

Before the pandemic hit, for college we had an exhibition to share the work we created for the colour project. As the project was about colour, we had to of course create an artwork relating to this. When looking back at this artwork I’m not too happy with how it turned out, but I experimented a lot. However, for the exhibition I gained a lot of experience of preparing my work to be displayed and as a group we built the full exhibition together at the venue. Before the exhibition we went to the space to see the layout and to decide how we would display our artworks as well as thinking what equipment we will need. For my art all was needed was thick double-sided tape and blue tack which managed to hold up the artwork for the whole night. Each part of my work was individually made so it had to be displayed separately. I also had a small section under the artwork with some of my art products I had at the time.

For the main piece of work I used different colours and added a hint of yellow and some black and white, which is the unnatural colours of the sea. The artwork is created with different materials and processes with mono print, Lino print, ink and acrylic paint.

2021

I attended Old Christ Church's annual art exhibition 6th, 7th, 13th, 14th November 2021, where they showcase local artists, this was my third exhibition at this venue.

I was able to gain experience from this by preparing for the exhibition, setting up and being able to share my art to the public. Many of the artists in this exhibition were local artists who have been painting for many years, which was good for me to be around experienced artists and being the youngest artist there, it was very inspiring to see everyone’s work.

All the paintings that I displayed were ocean paintings, like past exhibitions. I used different size canvases and had 2 large canvases on display.

About Us

An overview of my work

I am a seascape artist from the U.K., creating acrylic paintings inspired by the ocean on canvas. I love the calmness of listening to the sea which reflects within my paintings. I capture the movements of the sea by taking photographs on beach walks and use the photos as reference. My work is on different scales, and I create hand painted products of my artwork on multiple items to sell on Etsy, Agift4theseasons.
